POLICIES
- Our dance year begins in September and runs straight through to our annual performance, which is held in June each year. The performance is optional to each student enrolled at our Dance Center. A Performance Policies sheet can be obtained from our office for your information. We do not accept registrations for the teen or children's program after January 31st.
- During the course of the year we follow the general public school schedule with regards to holidays and vacations. See the monthly newsletter and visit this website for a calendar of observed holidays and vacations.
- Our monthly newsletter is available on this website under NEWS and is sent via e-mail to each enrolled family on a monthly basis. Our newsletter includes pertinent information regarding studio policies, upcoming events, student accomplishments, vacations and annual dance performance information.
- Class cancellations due to inclement weather are generally announced on our telephone answering service. For our Monday through Friday class schedule, cancellations are usually announced after the 12 Noon weather report. For Saturday classes cancellations are usually announced prior to the start of lessons. A copy of our inclement weather policy is posted in the main reception area in Studio I. Please call the office prior to your class if the weather is questionable before heading to your lesson(s). We also ask that parents call our office at 789-5080 when a student will be absent from their lessons due to illness, school events, weather or vacations.
- Consistent attendence is vital to the advancement of our students. Students missing 3 consecutive lessons will lose their space in class, and will need to re-register if they plan to continue taking the class(es).
- Classes are to be paid in full by the 1st day of the given month via our auto-payment system. Late fees and return payment fees apply. Classes must be paid in full whether a student is present or absent from class. Your space is reserved specifically for you. There are no refunds, credits, transfers or adjustments due to missed classes. A copy of our Tuition Policy can be obtained from the main studio office. Further registration policies are noted on the back of your registration form.
- All classes are taught in a friendly but disciplined atmosphere, which encourages our students to share in the dialogue of learning together. Students new to our Centre who have received training elsewhere, are placed in the appropriate classes after taking their second lesson with us.
- We are able to accept a limited number of students in a class and reserve the right to refuse registration for any class that has reached capacity, as well as cancel any class at any time throughout the dance year with less than five (5) registrations.
-
Placement is determined according to age and experience, and is divided into Pre-School, Child, Pre-Teen, Teen and Adult classes. All students are placed in classes based upon the discretion of the Artistic Director, which may result in the interaction of different age groups in agreement with a student's abilities.
- Parents are asked to understand that the appropriate class for their child/children may not be the most convenient class time for them. Placement, at the discretion of the director, in the appropriate class is necessary for both the enjoyment and continuity of training for our students. At NPAC we pride ourselves on providing the very best individualized training for every student enrolled in our Dance Centre, therefore students may not always remain with the same classmates from year to year and may be working with a variety of ages.
- We encourage, and may require, each student enrolled at NPAC to attend at least one ballet class per week. Our lyrical classes require a ballet class to be taken in conjunction during the school year.
- Students who are working en pointe MUST be taking a minimum of two ballet classes per week. At NPAC students must be at least 12 years of age before being considered for pointe work. Not all students will be put on pointe, and others may go up on pointe at varying times during the year. We ask parents to understand that this professional decision is made in the very best interest of our dancers for their safety and individual training.
- Tuition, costume fees and registration fees are non-refundable. There are no exceptions.
- All tuition accounts must be paid in full by May 1st of the given year.
- Costumes cannot be distributed until open accounts are paid in full. Dancers will not be allowed to participate in the annual performance if their account is in arrears.
