***SEPTEMBER ISSUE COMING SOON***
Please read this past Summer's newsletter while waiting

The big news this summer is that WE'RE MOVING!!! No need to worry, we're not going far!

We'll be located in the PIER MARKET COMPLEX and have set our sights on beginning our September Season in our new diggs! To accomodate our move and make a smooth transition for all, we are limiting this summer's course schedule to our daytime intensives. If you wish to join us, please see the summer schedule page of our website!

We have loved our current location and are greatful for all the years we spent here, yet we are looking forward to all the excitement a new studio will bring us! Of course, we'll keep everyone posted on all the fun details, and can't wait to see you all at our Open House!

  • AT NPAC, our students are...
N - Noticeable for who they are..
    P - Patient with themselves

    C - Creating their future!

  • CONGRATULATIONS TERPSICHORE DANCERS ALEXIS and SASHA!
Congratulations are again in order for two of our TDC Senior Members, Sasha Anderson and Alexis Robbins! Sasha was accepted to the NYCDA Summer Intensive in New York City for the SECOND YEAR, and Alexis was accepted to attend Tap Kids in NY for the FOURTH time! Both dancers enjoyed the time they spent at their intensives so much that they agreed to write short articles about last year's experiences to share with our NPAC family! Their articles will be posted on our website under TERPSICHORE! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us, and we hope this summer's trips inspire you even more!!

  • WELCOME TO THE FALL SEASON, Back to School HEALTH CONCERNS AND NPAC STUDENTS
In light of last year's health concerns with the H1N1 virus, and other health issues we have faced in our schools and communities, we would like to be clear about our policies for students who become ill this Fall Season. Though we dont feel it is necessary to create panic, we do believe it is wise to be pro-active!

Please call our office to inform us of your childs absence due to illness.
    401.824.4930.
Children need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to dance class.
If your child is feeling ill, coughing or sneezing often, please do not send them to class.
Our dance room will be kept cooler than usual to limit the transfer of germs in a warm room (with many dancers), please dress accordingly. Sweatshirts are permitted only during this season.

Hand sanitizers are readily available in all areas of NPAC. Please feel free to use them as needed. Dancers are encouraged to wash their hands with soap and water in between classes.
Though we have a water bubbler, we do not encourage its usage during the flu season. Please bring your own water bottles, clearly labeled, to class.
Our barres, equipment, door knobs, lunch room, restroom and all areas of the studio are consistently sprayed with Lysol and cleaned to accommodate the numbers of children who frequent them daily.

As always, the safety of our dancers is a top priority at NPAC. We will continue to take added precautions as necessary to ensure a safe, healthy and enjoyable Fall season for all!

  • IMPORTANT REMINDER ABOUT CLASS ATTENDANCE!
We ask that each student make their best effort to attend each of their scheduled lessons throughout the year. It is important for the continuity of training for our dancers! Also, once we begin preparations for our June performance it is very important to have each dancer present for each class. Absences cause teachers to repeat choreography and lessons that have already been taught, which takes away from valuable class time, thus holding the whole group back.

When absences are at a minimum, it allows our teachers to use creative patterns and unique concepts for their classes, without too much confusion! We look forward to another great year of learning, seeing everyone at class, and to choreographing great routines for our students to perform in June 2011!!

  • DANCEWEAR and Our Dress Code!
We do expect to see our dancers wearing the proper attire to class. This includes wearing the correct shoes! Pink split sole ballet slippers are to be worn to ballet classes. Black jazz shoes are worn to jazz, and tap shoes are worn to tap. Foot undies are for contemporary and lyrical classes, and black dance sneakers are for Hip Hop.

Leotards and tights must be worn for each class. Please DO NOT allow your dancer to come to class with bare legs. Sport shorts are NOT allowed in class. Please be sure to order the required dance shorts through our office! These are fitted black dance shorts and are reasonably priced! We can order them for you! For a complete listing of the required dancewear, please visit our office.

  • DRESS CODE RECAP!
Here are some dress code reminders to keep teachers, parents and students dancing to the same beat!

    1. At no time are any oversize sweatshirts, zipper fromt sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, fleece pull-overs or coats allowed in class. Sweatpants and pajama bottoms are NOT allowed. These are considered street clothes and are not a part of our dress code. Dancers will be asked to change.

    2. Please remember that ALL dancers are required to wear a leotard and tights to class at all times, no matter what the season. ALL dancers must have their hair pulled up.

    3. If a dancer is wearing black dance pants for tap, jazz or hip hop, please be sure they are hemmed properly. Long hems can cause dancers to slip and fall, and can also impede tap sounds.

    4. Dancers in multiple classes will not be allowed to change leotards and tights in between classes.

It is our goal to provide the very best education possible to every student enrolled with us, whether they plan to dance on Broadway or not!

    2010-2011 YEARLY DRESS CODE NOTES
All registered students will be expected to follow the dress code. This includes wearing leotards and tights to class, as well as the proper shoes for your lesson. All dancers must have their hair pulled up for class. Dancers will be asked to change and to pull their hair up if they arrive unprepared for their lesson. Black leotards, pink tights and fitted black dance shorts are required for ALL ballet classes. NO DANCE PANTS are allowed for ballet! Dancers may wear fitted dance pants in Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop classes ONLY.
Although our Hip Hop program allows for a more relaxed dress code, dancers may NOT wear jeans and/or pajama bottoms! Tank tops and yoga/dance pants are allowed and dance sneakers must be worn. No street shoes. Please do not wear your hip hop sneakers outdoors! They are for the dance room only! Please remind dancers of the dress code, as it is an important part of the discipline in the classroom!

If you have any questions as to what the proper attire is for your class(es), please call our office and request a complete a listing of the required dance wear. It is imperative that all dancers follow the required dress code at NPAC. Your required dancewear is an important part of your learning experience with us and we want it to be a great one!

For your convenience, you may order from our office for all your dancewear and activewear needs! Forms are available in our reception area, and include all of the required and approved dancewear for our classes.
