Celia Tafuri
Celia Tafuri is a multi-faceted performer of the arts. Along with training in dance she has extensively studied music and has been in numerous theatrical performances. She began her training at Rhode Island Ballet Arts Academy where she studied with Nancy McAuliffe, Ellie Lupo, Barbara Jean Medeiros, Michael Wilson, Myles Marsden, Christine Sandorfi and many others. She also was a member of Rhode Island’s Ballet Theatre where she appeared as a featured soloist for 8 years. Celia has closely studied with guest teachers such as Jeffry Edwards, a past Principal dancer of New York City Ballet, and other prestigious dancers from Boston Ballet, New York City Ballet, and Festival Ballet of Providence. She also attended the summer intensive at the Briansky Saratoga Ballet Center in New York. Celia has lent her dancing talents to musical theater. She has had featured roles in Fame, West Side Story, and played Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof. Her choreography has also been seen in Fantasy Work’s children’s shows in the summers. She is attending the University of Rhode Island as a double major in Vocal Music Performance and Elementary Education. At the University she is a member of multiple auditioned performance groups such as URI’s premiere a cappella group "Lively Experiment”. In the Music Department she is a versatile member of the Opera Workshop program as both a featured dancer and a soloist. She plans to continue performing in the many facets of the performing arts.
