Alexis Robbins
Alexis Robbins started tap dancing at the age of 3 in East Providence, Rhode Island. She has been dancing at Narragansett Performing Arts Centre since 1999 and has been a member of the Terpsichore Dance Company since 2001. For the past four summers Alexis has attended, by juried audition, New York Stage Originals Tap Kids where she has trained with Lisa Hopkins, Jason Samuels Smith, Mark Goodman, and Ayodele Casel. In addition she has also trained with Festival Ballet Providence and Rhode Island Ballet Theatre. Although tap is her favorite style of dance, she is extremely versatile in other forms as well. Alexis has won numerous high score awards for her tap solos in various competitions as well as for her jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop performances with the Terpsichore Dance Company. Her passion for dance has been recognized at various conventions, amidst hundreds of dancers, where she has been a scholarship finalist and a scholarship award winner. She has performed the roles of Abu in Aladdin, Colonel Hathi in The Jungle Book, Jennyany Dots in Cats, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, and the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland in NPAC’s annual productions. Alexis is also an aspiring choreographer and loves to compose for all styles of dance. She has had the opportunity to choreograph tap, contemporary, and lyrical solos and duets for members of the Terpsichore Dance Company where her creations have not only been performed in various competitions, but fellow dancers have taken home top awards for their performances. Alexis is currently a senior at South Kingstown High School where she is a member of the Freshman Mentoring Program. She joins us for her second year as staff instructor and we look forward to another fabulous year of her creativity and passion!
